Musicians in the Schools

A Memorable Learning Experience

Launched in 1994, the Musicians in the Schools program brings BSO musicians and teachers together to create an unforgettable experience for students. The program develops learning opportunities to help foster a connection and interest in classical music and the BSO, thereby providing a deeper understanding of musical artistry. BSO musicians visit classrooms 3-4 times throughout the school year and culminate the year with a performance.

Musicians meet with the teachers and BSO education staff prior to the school year to establish goals, discuss curriculum, and plan the year. In addition to the musicians' visits to the schools, participating students attend concerts and/or rehearsals at Symphony Hall and participate in other education programs at the Hall.
