Due to his current physical condition Kurt Masur has withdrawn from the upcoming Boston (February 23, 24, and 25) and New York (March 6) performances of Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis". John Oliver, conductor of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, will lead the Boston performances.

About the Music
Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" is one of the most significant works by one of the greatest of all composers. This monolithic late work stands with the Ninth Symphony, the late string quartets, and the late piano sonatas as the culmination of Beethoven's transformation of music.
