Bass trombonist James Markey will join the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the opening of the 2012-13 season. Mr. Markey joins new members Jonathan Chu, viola; Wesley Collins, viola; Kyle Brightwell, percussion; and Matthew McKay, percussion, who were also each recently appointed to positions in the BSO, as previously announced.

The 132nd season of the Boston Symphony Orchestra takes place

Single tickets for the BSO's 2012-13 season, priced from $31 to
$123, go on sale Monday, August 6, at 10 a.m. BSO concerts take
place Thursday, Saturday, and Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 1:30
p.m. or 8 p.m.

In conjunction with this weekend's commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the Boston Symphony will spotlight a memorial plaque in honor of the musicians who drowned while still playing (famously alleged as "Nearer, My God, to Thee"); the BSO tribute will take place during performances at Symphony Hall April 12-14.
