Lisa Hughes is a news anchor for WBZ-TV News weekdays at 5PM with co-anchor Jonathan Elias as well as 6PM and 11PM with co-anchor Jack Williams. She joined the station in June 2000 after working as a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the CBS-TV Station Group’s satellite news service. Before joining CBS, Hughes worked at KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington, KBCI-TV in Boise, Idaho, and KCBY-TV in Coos Bay, Oregon. Among her many honors are a 2008 Emmy Award for On-Camera Talent Reporter and a 2007 regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her at-home interviews with the gubernatorial candidates. Lisa was an Emmy Award nominee in 2000 for News Anchoring and received an Emmy Award for Hard News Story in 1996. In her first year with WBZ-TV, Boston Magazine named Hughes Best Newcomer in TV News, and the Improper Bostonian named her Best News Anchor. Lisa is also involved in a number of community organizations and charities. Born in Moscow, Idaho, Lisa Hughes received a bachelor of arts in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She resides in the Boston area with her husband and daughter.
