Beowulf: The Epic in Performance Through song and speech, and accompanying himself on a six-stringed harp, medievalist Benjamin Bagby vividly recreates his version of the epic Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf - the oldest extant complete poem in English, a narrative that tells the story of the chieftain Beowulf who defeats the monster Grendel in battle. Sung in old English as it may have been heard 1000 years ago, Beowulf draws us back into the world of tribal society and Nordic legend. Performed in old English with modern English supertitles
