Celebrating 125 Years As part of the Boston Pops 125th Anniversary Celebration, Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops will give a free concert on Boston Common at 3 p.m. on September 26. This concert will be held in partnership with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and is sponsored by Fidelity Investments and the Friends of the Public Garden with support from Normandy Real Estate partners. The orchestra is also partnering with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy to offer Pops in the Parks, a three-part series featuring the Boston Pops Brass Quintet performing outdoors at two of Boston's most picturesque locations-Pinebank at Jamaica Pond (June 27 and July 11) and Allerton Overlook at Olmsted Park (August 8). Concert repertoire for these three concerts ranges from Renaissance brass music to ragtime and early 20th century jazz. September 26, 3pm - Boston Common Keith Lockhart, conductor Renese King, vocalist Jeremiah Kissel, narrator Boston Pops The Boston Pops concludes its free parks concert series in September on the Boston Common, presenting a full orchestra concert with conductor Keith Lockhart and celebrating the orchestra's 125-year history. This concert will be preceded by performances from the winners of the Fidelity Futurestage® Music Competition. Previous Pops in the Parks Concerts August 8, 6pm - Allerton Overlook at Olmsted Park Boston Pops Brass Quintet Old-Time Brass This old-time brass band concert will feature some works actually written originally for brass band: Gustave Holst's Second Military Suite in F, a brass band classic, selections from the American Brass Band Journal including marches, ballads and quick-steps played by bands that were part of the Civil War Armies. It also features old-time ragtime and early turn-of-the-century jazz. Generously underwritten by Bicon Dental Implants and Implant Dentistry Centre. July 21, 7pm - City Hall Plaza Bill Elliott and Members of the Boston Pops Join Bill Elliott and the Boston Pops Swing Orchestra for a memorable concert at City Hall Plaza on July 21 at 7pm. Bill Elliott is known for his distinctive swing songs and sound -- light-hearted, energetic, witty, romantic, feel good music. Dancing is recommended! Look for the Boston Pops table to win tickets to the Holiday Pops or a trip to Tanglewood this summer! June 27, 6pm - Pinebank at Jamaica Pond Boston Pops Brass Quintet A Program of Threes This concert will include three works by the great master, Johann Sebastian Bach, three 16th century Carmina, three beautiful chansons by Claude Debussy originally written for a cappela chorus, a three movement modern quintet by British film composer Malcolm Arnold, and three jazz standards.
