Director of Annual Funds, Boston Symphony Orchestra

Description of Position

Join the BSO during an exciting era under the leadership of James Levine as we launch a comprehensive campaign.  You will be responsible for leading the BSO Annual Funds to new heights and increasing the base of generosity (in FY09 12,000+ Annual Fund donors gave $9 million+).  You will lead a team who will set strategies for the engagement and solicitation of Symphony, Pops, and Tanglewood patrons.  You will collaborate with the principal/major, planned giving and donor relations teams to develop donor strategies and will help ensure that funding priorities are met.  You will work closely with trustees, overseers, colleagues and other key leaders throughout the organization to identify, qualify and solicit new prospects and will serve as a key relationship manager.  

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree, 5-9 years of demonstrated achievement in annual giving, excellent strategic planning skills, ability to work effectively with high- level decision makers; ability to work as a part of a team, as well as successfully lead one; skillful experience with top level volunteers and donors, and knowledge of prospect management systems.  Proven success in management, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.  Must have the ability and flexibility to travel as necessary to achieve goals which may include relocating to Tanglewood in the summer.
