About the Music

New! Henri Dutilleux Featured on the BSO Classical Companion!

Celebrated American soprano Renée Fleming joins James Levine and the BSO in the American premiere performances of a new work by the French composer Henri Dutilleux (b.1916). Le Temps l’Horloge, written for Ms. Fleming, is a setting of poems by 20th-century French poets Jean Tardieu and Robert Desnos. Also on this all-French program is a set of songs by Henri Duparc (1848-1933), orchestral excerpts from Berlioz’s Shakespeare-inspired symphony Roméo et Juliette, and Debussy’s lush, well-known La Mer.
