About the Music

[John Williams]Tanglewood on Parade, one of the festival’s most beloved traditions, takes place July 28, culminating in a performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture followed by a dazzling fireworks display. James Levine, Keith Lockhart, John Williams, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Leonard Slatkin share the podium for this lively evening of music by the BSO, the TMCO, and the Boston Pops.

Music and Astronomy Under the Stars - Not Just for Kids!
An extravaganza of music and fun for music lovers of all ages. Activities begin at 2pm with special guest, Dr. Donald Lubowich, from Hofstra University’s Astronomy Outreach Program offering stargazing for adults and children with telescope observations of the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, star clusters, and nebulae. This NASAsponsored event is part of the worldwide 2009 International Year of Astronomy, celebrating the 400th anniversary of Galileo using a telescope for astronomy.
