About the Music

Legendary French-Armenian composer, virtuoso pianist, singer, score-writer, arranger, conductor, director, and producer MICHEL LEGRAND will be playing a rare and intimate Boston engagement. He will be joined by MARIO PELCHAT, whose velvet, sexy voice is familiar from the musical “Nôtre Dame de Paris,” and accompanied by a quartet of brilliant musicians including CATHERINE MICHEL (harp), a soloist with Opéra de Paris. Special Guest Star 5 Time Grammy Award Winner DIONNE WARWICK.

Multi-talented Michel Legrand is a 3-time Oscar winner (out of 13 nominations) and 5-time Grammy winner. He has been astonishing audiences since the 1950s, when his very first album, I Love Paris, became one of the best selling instrumental albums ever released. He has composed over 200 scores for films like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Thomas Crown Affair, Yentl, and The Three Musketeers. Legrand also authored television scores, composed several musicals and made well over a 100 albums. His memorable songs, “How Do You Keep the Music Playing,” “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?” and “The Windmills of Your Mind” are included in the list of America’s Greatest Movie Songs by the American Film Institute.

The concert is a mixture of classical movie tunes by Maestro Legrand, as well as jazz and Hollywood hits, built around romance and nostalgia of French ‘chanson’.

“a great melodic inventor ...” - UK Guardian
“an effusive eminence of popular music!” - New York Times
