On the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, join the Pops in celebrating our nation’s triumphant achievement. Historic footage of the lunar landing provided by NASA will accompany a program of stirring patriotic music featuring the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, with music about our universe including Holsts’ The Planets. Honor one of America’s proudest moments in space exploration with a spectacular Pops concert.

In a program that showcases her extravagant vocal gifts, Eder will sing such Judy Garland favorites as “By Myself,” “Me and My Shadow,” “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart,” “Almost Like Being in Love,” and “Over the Rainbow.”

Gospel music with multiple Grammy Award winner Edwin Hawkins, a trailblazing force behind the evolution of the contemporary Gospel sound. Forty years ago, Hawkins "Oh Happy Day" became one of the biggest Gospel hits of all time. On the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Boston Pops pays tribute to the great swing clarinetist Benny Goodman, a musical giant who became known as “The King of Swing.” In an unparalleled evening of his music, Goodman is honored by a program that includes such memorable songs as “Let’s Dance,”“Don’t be that Way,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and other favorites. The evening will also feature our annual tribute to Boston Pops Maestro Arthur Fiedler (June 5 only).

John Williams and the Boston Pops salute the legendary achievement of the great MGM Musical Director Stanley Donen. The program will highlight America’s favorite musicals drawn from Donen’s distinguished career in film, such as Singin’ in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Royal Wedding. The Pops honors the man whose creative genius reshaped musicals forever. Donen will appear with the Pops on May 28 and 29. This program also includes “Star Gazers” from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, featuring Pops' harpist Ann Hobson Pilot.

Celebrate the release of the Boston Pops Red Sox Album, the Pops' latest CD produced in conjunction with the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. Hear Fenway's favorite "Sweet Caroline" and all the baseball classics including "Casey at the Bat" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", plus the "Star-Spangled Banner". From Opening Day to end-of season mythic battles to win the pennant, this Pops program will rouse the hearts, hopes, and fond baseball memories of all in the audience.
