Program Fees & Residency Requirements
Tuition, housing, breakfast, dinner, and bus transportation between the dormitory and the Tanglewood campus are provided at no charge to participants for the duration of the TMC season.

Application Deadlines and Audition Schedule
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible before the relevant deadline. Auditions are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Applying by the deadline does not guarantee an audition. Many cities have high demand and fill to capacity before the application deadline.

Instrumental and Orchestral Studies at the TMC include work with the TMC Orchestra (TMCO) in depth studies in chamber music, as well as classes with BSO members and guests, and other special instrument-specific projects.

Fellows in the Vocal Arts Program participate in art song, chamber music, and opera projects, the balance of which is based on the interests of the applicant and the determination of the faculty during the audition process.

The TMC offers conductors the opportunity to work with internationally recognized maestros, podium time in front of an extraordinarily talented group of colleagues, and the chance to study the technique of many distinguished artists as they work with the BSO in both rehearsal and performance.

The TMC Composition Program balances intensive on-site writing projects with classes, seminars, and discussions led by distinguished composers from a wide range of aesthetic perspectives. Composers will each have at least three performances of their works during the summer: a piece resulting from one or more on-site projects, a work composed in the pre-season (see below), and a major chamber music presentation.

Working under the guidance and supervision of the BSO Publications Office and TMC staff, the Publications Fellow will gain hands-on experience in the writing of the program notes, creation of printed concert programs and related activities.

This program was established to provide technicians with hands-on experience in both concert work and general maintenance. Working side by side with the resident senior piano technician, Stephen Carver, apprentices have the chance to expand on their technical abilities, decision-making skills, and confidence, as well as gain an understanding of the role piano technicians play in the concert world. The opportunities Tanglewood offers for interacting with world-class professionals and students provides insights into the instrument that are not easily gained elsewhere.
