Excellent opportunity for all student ensemble groups: bands, orchestras, choirs, chamber groups, jazz ensembles, etc. 

Choose from the following options:

Both Options Include*:

  • Room/Space Rental
  • BSO/Pops Musician Fee (critiques & provides feedback while the listen to ensemble play; ensemble director conducts)
  • 30-minute warm-up period
  • 60-minute master class
  • Stage/room set-up based on seating diagram provided by ensemble director (chairs & stands included)
  • Secured room to place cases and personal items throughout the class & security guard located nearby
  • Drop off/pick up location in front of Symphony Hall, bus parking located across the street along Huntington Avenue

*PLEASE NOTE All masterclasses can be customized according to your group’s needs!

Requirements to Participate:

  • Group ticket purchased to a BSO or Boston Pops performance
  • Instrument rental from an outside company if necessary (the BSO, unfortunately, cannot provide any instruments for student use)
  • Ensemble’s seating diagram and score copies of pieces to be played (please no originals) sent prior to class
  • Complete group list (students & chaperones) for security purposes

Education Workshop
The perfect option for any group (student or adult) interested in learning more about the inner workings of a professional symphony orchestra.
Offers Visiting Groups the opportunity to interact with a BSO/Pops musician and gain an insider’s perspective on topics such as:

  • Musician’s background & professional progression
  • Life in the BSO/Boston Pops & weekly requirements during the BSO, Pops, and Tanglewood seasons
  • Audition process
  • The story behind their instruments
  • Performance specifics & characteristics
  • Conductor differences

Class includes*:

  • Room Rental
  • BSO/Pops musician or industry professional fee
  • 45-minute class
  • Security guard located nearby
  • Drop off/pick up in front of Symphony Hall, bus parking located across the street along Huntington Avenue
