Timothy Genis

Timpani

BSO: Sylvia Shippen Wells chair, endowed in perpetuity

Timothy Genis joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in May 1993 as assistant timpani of the BSO and timpani of the Boston Pops Orchestra. Mr. Genis attended the Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music. From July 1991 until his BSO appointment, he was associate timpani and assistant principal percussion of the Honolulu Symphony.

Daniel Bauch

BSO: Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Linde chair

Daniel Bauch joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in fall 2009, having held the position of assistant principal timpanist and percussionist with the Detroit Symphony for three years. He began playing percussion at age seven and during high school studied with the BSO's Timothy Genis and Will Hudgins.

J. William Hudgins

Peter and Anne Brooke chair, endowed in perpetuity

A native of Texas, Will Hudgins was awarded the Interlochen Center for the Arts’ Joseph E. Maddy Memorial Scholarship to attend the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Kyle Brightwell

BSO: Peter Andrew Lurie chair, endowed in perpetuity

Kyle Brightwell began his musical studies on piano and guitar at age four, and began focusing on percussion studies at age eleven.

Matthew McKay

Percussionist Matthew McKay joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra at the beginning of the 2012-2013 season. Prior to joining the BSO, Mr. Mckay was a percussionist with the Oregon Symphony for two seasons.
