The Boston Pops releases a star-studded celebration featuring some of the greatest moments over their 129-year history.
Hosted by Keith Lockhart and produced by Susan Dangel and Dick Bartlett, THE BEST OF THE BOSTON POPS tells the orchestra’s story—from its beginnings as summertime entertainment for Bostonians, to the national icon and beloved institution it is today. In 2015, the Boston Pops celebrated the 20th anniversary of its beloved conductor, Keith Lockhart, who has introduced the orchestra to millions of new attendees, viewers and listeners during his tenure. During Maestro Lockhart’s tenure, more than 700,000 people have attended live Boston Pops concerts each year. This program highlights the history and musical importance of the Boston Pops as the first and preeminent American Pops orchestra and showcases the extraordinary variety of artists and programming of the leadership era of Keith Lockhart (1995 to present). This special program features interviews and/or performances by Jason Alexander, Chris Botti, Kristin Chenoweth, Roberta Flack, Josh Groban, Patti LaBelle, Bernadette Peters, James Taylor, Vanessa Williams, Yo-Yo Ma, Wynton Marsalis, and Audra McDonald.
