Free lawn tickets for children and young people up to 17!
Tanglewood is pleased to offer free lawn tickets for children and young people age 17 and younger. Up to four free children's tickets are available per parent/legal guardian per concert at the Tanglewood Box Office on the day of the concert. We do not issue these in advance of the performance. Children under five are not permitted in the Koussevitzky Music Shed. All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket. This free lawn ticket policy does not apply to organized groups of children. For Popular Artist concerts, free lawn tickets are only available for children under 2.

The 2021 Tanglewood Free Lawn Tickets for Children and Young People Program is supported by a generous gift from the Pumpkin Foundation/Joe and Carol Reich.

Grounds Policies and Information

Gate Opening Times: For summer 2021, gates will open 2 hours prior to the performance start time.

Tanglewood Grounds Regulations: Cooking, open flames, sports activities, bikes, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, drones and other similar unmanned aircraft are prohibited from the Tanglewood grounds. No eating or drinking (except water) is permitted inside any of the concert halls. During Shed concerts, children may play ball in designated areas around the Visitors Center and in the Apple Tree lot of Ozawa Hall, but only if such activity does not disturb performances, rehearsals or patrons sitting on the lawn. Ball playing is not permitted on the Shed lawn at any time when the grounds are open for a Shed concert. Photography and video recordings are prohibited during concerts. Shirts and shoes must be worn inside concert halls. No areas of the lawn may be cordoned off for any reason. For security reasons, we reserve the right to inspect bags and other items brought on campus.

Please note for 2021: Patrons are expected to follow physical distancing guidelines for maintaining space while seated on the lawn. Adherence to the mask policy, except while eating and drinking, will be monitored by staff.

Severe Weather Evacuation Policy: In the event of severe weather conditions, a coordinated campus-wide alert will be issued. Patrons and staff will be directed to shelters in a safe and orderly manner. We regret there can be no refunds, even in the event of inclement weather.

Canopy Policy: In an effort to enhance the lawn experience at Tanglewood, patrons are permitted to use small, open-sided canopies (including tents, umbrellas, sport-brellas and other similar portable lawn equipment) to shade them from the sun provided that such equipment is open on all sides, does not have stakes exceeding 6 inches in length, are no larger than 6 feet square or 4 feet in diameter and used only in areas designated by Tanglewood staff. The lawn irrigation system is vulnerable to damage from stake penetrations exceeding 6 inches in length. Canopies exceeding specified size limitations or installed in undesignated areas can unreasonably obstruct views of other lawn patrons and create potential safety hazards in severe weather conditions and are not permitted.

Please note that patrons assume responsibility for properly securing their lawn equipment and any damages to persons or property arising from the use of such equipment at Tanglewood. Tanglewood retains the right to prohibit the use of any lawn equipment that interferes with its infrastructure, causes a potential safety issue or impairs the lawn experience for other patrons.

Non-Smoking Policy: As a result of our masking requirements and the health and safety for all, no smoking, vaping or use of tobacco-related products will be permitted anywhere on the Tanglewood grounds this summer.

Green Initiative: Tanglewood is pleased to continue its recycling and eco-friendly efforts.

Pet Restrictions: No pets (except for service animals) are allowed on Tanglewood property.

Lawn Chair & Seat Cushion Rental: Seat cushions are available for a rental fee of $3 per cushion and lawn chairs are available to rent for a $7 fee (cash and credit card accepted) prior to each concert.  Rentals are subject to availability. Lawn chairs and seat cushions are available at the Lawn Chair shack near the main entrance to the Shed

When driving to Tanglewood, if you are using the Ozawa Hall Gate on Hawthorne Street, in respect for our neighbors, please be mindful that it is a residential neighborhood, and the speed limit is 30 mph. Likewise, on West Street close to Lenox Town Center, the speed limit is 35 mph, and 40 mph heading towards Tanglewood. We would appreciate it if you would refrain from using your car horn as well, particularly post-concert.

***We regret there can be no ticket refunds or exchanges, even in the event of inclement weather. All programs and artists are subject to change.***
