BSO and Andris Nelsons Continue Shostakovich Recording Cycle
The BSO and Ray and Maria Stata Music Director Andris Nelsons continued their Shostakovich recording project on Deutsche Grammophon with the release of the composer’s first, fourteenth (excerpt above), and fifteenth symphonies. Recorded live at Symphony Hall, the two-disc set, with works that bookend Shostakovich’s long career, features performances by guest vocalists bass Alexander Tsymbalyuk and soprano Kristine Opolais.
