Rising Star Canellakis Makes Tanglewood Conducting Debut

A worldwide conducting talent on the rise, Karina Canellakis made her BSO and Tanglewood debut in August in a concert featuring Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres), and both Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, Opus 36,” and Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33 featuring Tanglewood fixture Yo-Yo Ma as cello soloist. Following the concert, The Boston Globe remarked, “…[Canellakis] has been earning raves and rising quickly in the orchestral world. No one present at Sunday’s performance would have wondered why.”
