Berkshire Day

Every summer, Tanglewood opens its doors to the community it calls home.

On Sunday, July 19, Tanglewood hosts its annual Berkshire Day, offering free tickets to the 2:30pm concert in the Shed to all year-round residents of Berkshire County. Music Director Andris Nelsons leads pianist Daniil Trifonov and BSO Principal Trumpet Thomas Rolfs in Shostakovich's witty Piano Concerto No. 1, alongside Haydn's Philosopher Symphony and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2.

But the party starts before the concert! Beginning at noon that day, the grounds come alive with free pre-show performances by artists from Barrington Stage Company, Berkshire Busk! (Kimberly’s Pocket circus, Kat Winston & Michael Aaron, and Eganam “ÉGO” Segbefia), Berkshire Brazil, Clara Guatta, Eagles Band, and Kids 4 Harmony. All around the campus, there will be an Instrument Playground, Kids Corner, and community partner tabling on Tappan Lawn.

Berkshire Day is free for all year-round Berkshire residents. You can pick up tickets beginning Monday, July 13, in person at the Main Gate Box Office. Please be prepared to show identification with a Berkshire County address on it.
