Presented in collaboration with The Birch Festival, a Berkshire-based nonprofit dedicated to connecting world-class musicians with the local community through innovative, collaborative programming, this special event features a landmark of 20th-century American music: Lou Harrison's Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra. A vibrant celebration of rhythm, color, and cross-cultural imagination, the work draws inspiration from musical traditions around the world while remaining unmistakably Harrison's own. Featuring Birch Festival Artistic Director Yevgeny Kutik, violin, in special collaboration with Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s nationally recognized percussion ensemble, this exhilarating work offers a captivating blend of lyrical beauty, infectious energy, and striking sonic invention.
