TLI Close to Home: Andy Wrba & Friends 

Berkshire-based bassist, composer, and bandleader Andy Wrba brings together an all-star ensemble for a wide-ranging evening of original music at Tanglewood. Wrba has been a central figure in the Berkshires for more than 20 years, building community and creating opportunities for musicians through his long-running Monday night jazz series and performances throughout the region. A Pittsfield native, he has also toured nationally, including several years as a member of the independent roots-rock band Barefoot Truth. 

For this performance, Wrba will be joined by his core trio featuring pianist Benny Kohn and drummer Conor Meehan—two longtime collaborators known for their musical versatility, spontaneity, and deep ensemble connection. The program will also feature special guests Wanda Houston and Ed Moran on vocals, Kris Allen on alto saxophone, and Peter McEachern on trombone. 

The evening will showcase original compositions by Wrba and other members of the ensemble. Rooted in jazz improvisation but unconstrained by genre, the music draws from soul, classical, folk, and the many creative influences each musician brings to the stage. 

Together, this remarkable group of artists will present a dynamic and deeply collaborative performance celebrating original music, longtime musical relationships, and the creative spirit of the Berkshires.
