Steven MACKEY One Red Rose
Tania LEÓN Cuarteto No. 2

The TMC Festival of Contemporary Music seeks to showcase path-finding, and groundbreaking contemporary composers whose works we believe will define the next evolution of classical music.

This prelude concert features Steven Mackey’s One Red Rose, a piece he originally wrote for Carnegie Hall in memory of the Kennedy assassination — the music seeks to contrast the chaos and attempts at control that followed the event.

The Festival of Contemporary Music has been endowed in perpetuity by the generosity of Dr. Raymond H. and Mrs. Hannah H. Schneider, with additional support from the Fromm Music Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, the Amphion Foundation, Inc., and the Alice M. Ditson Fund at Columbia University.

Admission to 6pm Prelude Concerts is available to patrons with tickets to that evening's 8pm performance.
