This concert combines the current and the classical with three small chamber pieces featuring cellist Johannes Rostamo as a fifth member of the ensemble. Schubert’s Quintet in C – a piece that plays in the space between tension and comfort – is paired against Thomas Adès’ String Quintet, which the group premiered in March of this year. Die Nebonsonnen from Schubert’s Wintereisse is a wistful, haunting melody telling the tale of a lonely, love-stricken wanderer.
