Yo-Yo Ma and the cellists of the BSO present a special program that explores the many shades of expression possible from a single instrument, from reflective and meditative to rousing and propulsive. This evening asks us to consider the importance of individual voices and the power of the ensemble — and to remember the essential balance between the individual and the community.

The great cellists of the BSO have invited me to be their guest tonight and have created a program which reflects their answer to that question.” — Yo-Yo Ma
