Tanglewood Music Center at Chesterwood

Tanglewood

Chesterwood, Stockbridge, MA

Inspired by Chesterwood's upcoming sculpture garden exhibit, "Global Warming / Global Warning." The program will feature Gabriella Smith's Carrot Revolution for string quartet, Gabriela Ortiz's Cedrus for solo marimba, and Ellen Reid's West Coast Sky Forever for string quartet. Gabriela Ortiz, Ellen Reid, and Gabriella Smith are contemporary composers deeply engaged with environmental themes in their work. Each draw from the beauty of nature in their compositions, addressing global warming and environmentalism in their own distinctive ways. Together, these artists showcase their commitment to environmentalism, using music to raise awareness and inspire action on critical issues like climate change and the preservation of our planet. Their pieces not only celebrate the wonders of nature but also serve as a powerful reminder to protect it for future generations.
