Tanglewood Music Center at Greenagers

Tanglewood
Greenagers (April Hill), Egremont, MA
After a garden tour led by the Greenagers, the TMC will present three movements from Tchaikovsky's string sextet, Souvenir de Florence, while exploring the concept of collaboration. The audience will be guided through three key themes during the musical performance: melody and accompaniment, contrapuntal textures, and how texture conveys character and emotion in music. These themes will help address the overarching question: How does music use teamwork to express musical ideas and emotions? The performance will begin with a show-and-tell format, where the Fellows will perform selected passages either solo or in smaller pairs to illustrate how the piece comes together, with Ed Gazouleas, Director of the Tanglewood Music Center, facilitating the discussion. Following these demonstrations, the group will perform the movements in their entirety. A facilitated discussion and Q&A session between the Fellows, Greenagers, and audience will follow.
