A Letter to Our Walter Piston Society Members

Dear loyal Walter Piston Society members,

Welcome to the Walter Piston Society Appreciation Luncheon. The Boston Symphony Orchestra is privileged to have such a passionate and dedicated group of forward-thinking donors. Today, we honor you.

As Walter Piston Society members, your generous planned gifts help to inform the future of this beloved institution. Since joining the BSO last fall, I have spent my first six months coming to understand and appreciate those things which have made this orchestra so special, while also remaining focused on the future needs of the orchestra, Tanglewood, and the Pops. Taken together, this is how we are actively shaping what’s to come for our organization. We know that this organization’s storied legacy will help define its future, and we are taking steps so that others will enjoy and benefit from the music we make for years to come. The impact of your thoughtful, philanthropic giving will have a long-term ripple effect as it’s felt by expanding audiences, seen in humanities-inspired programming, and heard through impeccable artistry on stage.

As we get to know one another, I look forward to hearing from you, sharing my thoughts, and discovering common visions for the orchestra. Thank you again for your generosity and deep-rooted support.

With sincere gratitude,

Chad Smith
