The History of Symphony Hall
Symphony Hall opened on October 15, 1900, with an inaugural gala led by music director Wilhelm Gericke.

About the BSO
Led by Music Director Andris Nelsons since 2014, the Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881. Today the BSO reaches millions of listeners through not only our concert performances in Boston and at Tanglewood, but also via educational and community programs, radio, television, recordings, and tours.
