Keith Lockhart has been Artistic Director of the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival since 2007.
Situated on a 180-acre wooded campus in the mountains of western North Carolina, Brevard Music Center (BMC) is one of the country’s premier summer training programs and festivals, welcoming 500 gifted students, age 14 to post-college, each summer to study and perform with distinguished faculty and guest artists.
Keith’s appointment solidified an already special relationship with BMC; he attended as a teenager for two summers in 1974 and 1975. Through familial connections, his study there, frequent guest faculty appearances prior to his appointment, and his years of institutional leadership, Brevard has been a central part of Keith’s life for more than 50 years.
