Assistant Manager of Development Communications
In this role, you will assist the Director of Development Communications in developing and implementing marketing, communications, and campaign strategies to support the ongoing fundraising, donor relations, and engagement efforts. Additionally, you will oversee multiple external communications projects aimed at increasing the understanding and support of our mission and fundraising goals.
The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager. This person is responsible for assisting in the overall fiscal control of the organization, including, but not limited to, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations, receipts, disbursements, auditing and maintaining fixed assets. The Senior Accountant will review the Staff Accountants work and support the Accounting Manager during the month end and year end close.
Front of House Associate Manager
We have a newly created position for a Front of House Associate Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the FOH Director, you will oversee all "front of house" activities for concerts and events held in Symphony Hall and Tanglewood. As part of this role, you will assist with the hiring, management and scheduling of ushers, other staff and volunteers. You will ensure FOH and Security staff meet the highest standards for customer service and respond effectively to all emergencies. You will also facilitate cooperation between all departments when members of the public are involved.
You will work with the Director of Public Relations with key aspects of the operation, including managing press distribution and library of photo and video; dissemination of listings and photos for press placements; and research, cataloguing, and dissemination of all institutional press coverage; as well as writing and editing press materials; planning and implementation of press coverage for Boston Pops tour concerts; coordinating social media and new media efforts in collaboration with Marketing; and pitching features, reviews, and interviews to online and local print outlets.
Director of Major Gifts
The Boston Symphony Orchestra, an international standard-bearer of excellence in symphonic performance, is in the midst of a multi-phased fundraising effort that will support the fulfillment of ambitious strategic goals including the creation of transformative projects and programming, and the strengthening of the organization's long-term financial capitalization.
As an integral part of the senior leadership of the BSO's Development Office, the Director of Major Gifts is responsible for leading the BSO's capital fundraising efforts through this campaign in support of the organization's mission and vision for the future. You will oversee a team of four experienced major gift officers plus support staff, developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan for six- and seven-figure gifts. As the successful candidate, you will possess strong management and mentorship skills combined with front-line effectiveness.
Director of the Tanglewood Learning Institute
The Boston Symphony Orchestra and its summer home Tanglewood has had a long tradition and commitment of bringing an array of musical experiences to the community and the world. We are excited to be launching a new innovative program that will dramatically enhance the musical experience in Tanglewood - The Tanglewood Learning Institute (TLI).
For this new initiative, we have created the Director of the Tanglewood Learning Institute to lead the program and the facility. Working with BSO staff, you will provide visitors with opportunities for greater understanding and exploration of classical music, and a framework for an infinite range of intellectual pursuits: discovering unexpected connections offered in unusual and exciting formats, and thereby deepening their musical experience.
The Maintenance Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of building structures and facilities following recognized procedures and techniques of the carpentry trade and using hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, chisels, levels, drills, presses, sanders, table saws, joiners, planer and related carpentry tools. The Carpenter also practices preventive maintenance of carpentry tools and equipment, and complies with federal regulations governing safety, environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials common to construction. This unique position has a duality of paramount importance; the maintenance of Symphony Hall a 100+ year old, world class music venue, and, the support of concert operations and world class musicians. The candidate must exhibit a can-do attitude and remain flexible to the organizations ever changing needs.
