Talent Acquisition Manager

The successful candidate will possess the ability to build strong relationships, understand stakeholder needs, and develop recommendations to drive a robust talent acquisition strategy for BSO staff. This role is for those that are passionate about the recruiting stage of the employee life cycle. Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys collaborating with HR colleagues and members of the institution. This team member will show up in this role as one who is enthusiastic about bringing the best talent to the BSO through being inclusive and welcoming to all.

Assistant Director of Development Communications

The Assistant Director of Development Communications supports the Director of Development Communications in developing, implementing, and executing communications and content strategies to support the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s ongoing fundraising, donor relations, and donor engagement efforts.

Director of Humanities and the Tanglewood Learning Institute

The Director of Humanities and the Tanglewood Learning Institute will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the growth, development, and implementation of the BSO’s humanities programs. This role requires a visionary thinker with a deep appreciation for the humanities and its broad implications in society. The ideal candidate will be a leader with a commitment to advancing interdisciplinary studies, fostering innovation across BSO programming streams, and connecting our current and future audiences to the music performed on our stages.

Director of Board Engagement

The BSO seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Board Engagement to play a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's relationship with its Board of Directors and Advisors. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the person in this role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive engagement strategy to foster meaningful connections, develop philanthropic strategy, and align the Board with the BSO's mission, vision, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) goals.

Director of External Engagement

The Director of External Engagement provides internal and external leadership for programs that support the BSO’s commitment to building strong and reciprocity-based relationships with communities in the city of Boston and beyond. The person in the role serves as an ambassador of community engagement as a gateway to audience development and a lever for BSO’s ability to sustain and grow its cultural relevance.

The Director of External Engagement is responsible for linking the BSO with the larger arts organizations, developing and expanding programming, and creating strong connections across schools and communities. This position is responsible for raising the visibility of the BSO and its commitment to the integration of community-specific lenses into all BSO activities. The Director of External Engagement is supported by two (2) full-time direct reports.

Director of Education

The Director of Education provides internal and external leadership for programs that support the BSO’s commitment to music education and outreach to communities in the city of Boston and beyond. The person in the role serves as the lead translator of the BSO aspirations for music education and community involvement with the BSO by acting as a connector between the orchestra, development, marketing, and artistic programming.

The Director of Education is responsible for linking the BSO with the larger arts organizations, developing and expanding programming, and creating strong connections across schools and communities. This position is responsible for raising the visibility of the BSO and its commitment to quality music education primarily (but not exclusively) in the symphonic and orchestral genre. The Director of Education is supported by two (2) full-time direct reports.

Artist Liaison

Manage all administrative and organizational logistics for the Music Director, all guest soloists and conductors, assistant conductors, artists’ managers, and composers at Symphony Hall and at Tanglewood. Develop and manage seasonal budgets for artists travel, accommodation, and social events. Secure cost-effective travel and accommodation for artists and help seek sponsorship for this. Coordinate and process all payments and reimbursements for artists and any additional BSO guests, ensuring that all tax requirements are observed.

Obtain and circulate rehearsal orders and other performance-related details from Music Director, guest conductors, soloists, and corresponding BSO departments. Arrange the day-to-day schedule of BSO drivers/valets and disseminate to the HR department during the Symphony season. Supervise supplementary staff at Tanglewood, including a staff assistant.

Ticketing Services Associate - Part-Time & Full-Time

This role of Ticketing Services Associate requires one to be part of a ticketing and customer service team that promotes exceptional service to ensure a memorable patron experience for patrons. In this position, the Ticketing Services Associate will be responsible for selling tickets to all performances taking place at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood. In addition, it requires you to provide amazing service to patrons which includes helping to troubleshoot any problems or issues that need resolution. This role is a critical front-line position to our ticketing and customer service operations as part of the patron experience team
