Davóne Tines: What Creation Sounds Like

Hosted by Vijay Iyer, with pianist John Bitoy

Davóne Tines: What Creation Sounds Like
Davóne Tines, bass-baritone Vijay Iyer John Bitoy

What does the story of our beginning say about our present and future? What does creation actually sound like? Osvaldo Golijov, David Henry Hwang, and Leah Hager Cohen’s Creation seeks to provide a new answer. Join path-breaking singer Davóne Tines with pianist John Bitoy in conversation with innovative composer and pianist Vijay Iyer as they explore musical ideas of creation though live performance, improvisation, and examples from Ludwig van Beethoven, Duke Ellington, Robert Schumann, Alice Coltrane, Philip Glass, and excerpts from the new work.

Presented in partnership with the Harvard Department of Music.
