About

From Saint-Saëns to Sakamoto, from Disney to Dior: With her show-stopping talent, natural charisma and a one-of-a-kind versatility that transcends the boundaries between East and West, Gina Alice has emerged as a standout artist of her generation. A household name in China—boasting a television audience of over 300 million viewers—Gina Alice continues to top off her long-standing career as a classical pianist with international successes as a singer, songwriter, influencer, and model.

Born to German-Korean parents in 1994, Gina Alice was raised in Frankfurt, Germany. She began playing the piano at the age of four and became a student of Professor Irina Edelstein just three years later. When Gina Alice was eight years old, she began performing in public to great acclaim, particularly in France and Spain. In 2007, at thirteen, she made her TV debut as a soloist on German national television in the program “Klassik Kids,” on the public broadcasting channel ZDF.

In 2009, Gina Alice entered Lev Natochenny's master class at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt as a junior student; from 2012, she continued her academic and artistic development under the tutelage of Bernhard Wetz. 2012 also marked Gina Alice’s symphonic debut at the Philharmonie Berlin, the first of three concerts she has played in the renowned concert hall to date.

Gina Alice was named an official Steinway artist in 2021. Her debut album “Wonderworld,” released by Universal/Deutsche Grammophon later that year, features classical favorites like Debussy's “Clair de lune” and Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 along with contemporary pieces by Max Richter, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yann Tiersen, and Brian Eno, popular titles from Chinese traditional music, and Gina Alice’s original composition “Encore.” With its elegant mix of Classical, Neoclassical, Pop, and Asian folklore, the album offers an unconventional gateway to classical music for younger audiences while showcasing Gina Alice’s modern sensibility as an artist and composer.

Another personal milestone awaits Gina Alice in 2024: Her recording of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” with Lang Lang and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig under Andris Nelsons is set for release by Universal/Deutsche Grammophon on March 1 of this year. The project was first presented on stage at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in October 2023 and in London’s Royal Albert Hall in November 2023; a concert film produced by Universal/Deutsche Grammophon was premiered to a global audience on DG Stage. Upcoming live dates include concerts at the Philharmonie in Paris as well as the opening of the 2024/25 season of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

In recent years, Gina Alice has seized numerous opportunities to prove her prowess not only as a pianist but as a gifted and versatile singer. This artistic evolution is evident in her continued cooperation with the Walt Disney Company; in 2021, she performed the song “River of Memories” for the Chinese version of the movie “Frozen 2.” For Lang Lang’s album “The Disney Book,” she recorded “When You Wish Upon a Star” from “Pinocchio” in Chinese, English, and Korean. Joint performances at the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall followed shortly after. A Disney Special with Gina Alice and Lang Lang was recorded for the company’s centenary at the Royal Albert Hall in 2023 and is available on Disney+. In 2024, Gina Alice and Lang Lang will present their Disney repertoire live in Toronto and Tokyo.

Gina Alice’s artistry and charisma fueled her rapid rise to fame in China, where she regularly appears as a guest on the nation’s most popular entertainment outlets. In 2022, her own reality TV show “Gina’s Motel” garnered an audience of over 300 million viewers. On social media platforms such as Weibo and the Chinese version of TikTok, Gina Alice creates content for over 7 million personal followers.

Frequent international engagements as a fashion and cosmetics model—including editorial spreads and cover shoots for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, InStyle and Figaro—as well as prestigious brand partnerships with Dior, Guerlain, De Beers, Roger Vivier, and others have solidified Gina Alice's status as one of East Asia's most influential celebrities. Her popularity is not limited to China, however: In 2024, she will be a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, on some of Germany’s and France’s most beloved talk shows, and more.

Gina Alice is fluent in English, Chinese, German, Korean, and French. She divides her time between Paris, LA, New York, and Shanghai.
