Often described as a peacemaker, diplomat, philosopher, and lover of Nature, Hawk Henries’ passion for connection and interaction with Creation encompasses all aspects of his life. From creating a flute or original composition to an everyday walk to his workshop, his focus is on the life around him.
His music honors the sacredness in each person and all cultures, mirroring his belief that we each have the capacity to make positive change in the world. Through conversation and a note of humor, his expertise as a musician and orator weaves meaningful and contemplative spaces that engage and captivate diverse audiences.
Hawk has dedicated over 35 years to the preservation of Eastern Woodlands flutes. Recognized as a master of his craft, Hawk’s flutes are known for their precise tuning and aesthetic detail. His original compositions reflect not only the beauty he sees in the world, but also carry stories and traditional wisdom, giving strength to knowledge-keeping customs.
Hawk’s commitment to his life’s work has been recognized both nationally and internationally with the honor of presenting at numerous respected organizations such as The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Harvard Medical School Graduation, and the composition of music performed with The London Mozart players.
