Noah Ferris

18-year-old cellist Noah Lachman Ferris is a student of Astrid Schween in his senior year at Juilliard Pre-College. Ferris took up the cello at age 5 under Nicole Fizznoglia. An avid chamber musician, he has participated in numerous summer festivals including Bowdoin, Greenwood, Meadowmount, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. His major mentors include Edward Arron, Paul Katz, Joel Pitchon, and Julia Lichten.  

In the spring of 2025 Ferris performed the Korngold Cello Concerto with the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra. Ferris has also won prizes at the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, the Harvard Musical Association, the Thomas Schwab Concerto Competition, and the Caprio Competition, among others. Ferris has been a fellow on NPR’s From The Top and enjoys singing in the Juilliard High School Chorus in addition to being an accomplished visual artist.  

A student at Amherst Regional High School, Ferris lives in Amherst MA, where he is regional director of the Back to Bach Project and founder of an initiative providing free tutoring for local young musicians.
