Ruth Anne Sowa

Ruth Anne Sowa, from Medford Massachusetts, is a senior at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts where she trains with Head of Voice Teresa Winner Blume.
Recent roles include “Comte Barigoule” in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon, and Victor in a new adaptation of Offenbach’s Chanson de Fortunio by Teresa Winner Blume. She was also a featured soloist performing “Piangero” for Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston special concert at NEC’s Jordan Hall.
Ruth Anne has been recognized in several vocal competitions, including NATS New England (1st place, 2026), NATS National Student Conference (1st place, 2025), the Richard Miller Competition at Oberlin Conservatory (2nd place, 2025), and Honorable Mention in YoungArts (2025). Ruth Anne also was selected to sing in a masterclass with Dawn Upshaw at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Vocal Program in 2025.
Ruth Anne enjoys singing with the Handel and Haydn Society, where she has had several opportunities to perform major works such as Handel’s Messiah and Saul at Symphony Hall. She toured Austria with the Handel and Haydn Society Youth Chorus in June, 2024. After graduating Walnut Hill, Ruth Anne will be pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Oberlin Conservatory under the tutelage of Professor Katherine Jolly.
