Susan Egan

Susan Egan has traversed all four corners of the entertainment industry, making powerful impressions in theatre, film, television and music.

On Broadway, Susan starred in the title role of Thoroughly Modern Millie; won critical acclaim as Broadway’s longest-running ‘Sally Bowles’ in Cabaret; originated the leading roles in Triumph of Love and State Fair; and most notably, received both Tony Award® and Drama Desk® nominations for “Best Actress” as the original ‘Belle’ in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Regionally, Egan starred alongside Carol Burnett in Sondheim’s Putting It Together, Tommy Tune in the national tour of Bye, Bye Birdie, reprised her role of “Belle” for the Los Angeles premiere of Beauty and the Beast, headlined in South Pacific and Show Boat at the Hollywood Bowl, and developed works at Yale Rep, Baltimore Center Stage, South Coast Rep, and the Mark Taper Forum.

Susan’s film credits include 13 Going on 30, Gotta Kick It Up for the Disney Channel, and many award-winning independent films such as: Meet Market (Sarasota Film Festival), Death and Texas (Seattle Film Festival and Slamdance Film Festival), The Almost Guys (HBO Comedy Festival), Man of the Century (Audience Award, Slamdance) and more.

In animation, Egan gave the sultry voice to ‘Meg’ in Disney’s Hercules, sang the role of ‘Angel’ in Lady and the Tramp II, translated two Japanese blockbusters into English for famed animation director Hayao Miyazaki: ‘Gina’ in Porco Rosso, and ‘Lin’ in Spirited Away, which won an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature. She spent many years as the voice of ‘Belle’ for myriad Disney Princess CDs and toys, voiced the character of ‘Ginny’ in Achmed Saves America, starring comic Jeff Dunham, spent 6 seasons as “Rose Quartz” on Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, and has guest-starred on The Simpsons and Amphibia.

On television, Egan spent two seasons on the WB’s Nikki, and has guest-starred on Modern Family, Encore, House, Numbers, NYPD Blue, Arliss, Party of Five, Drew Carey, Almost Perfect, Partners, All My Children, Loving, and Great Performances: Rodgers and Hart, as well as pilots, movies of the week and specials for ABC, CBS, and the Disney Channel.

As a solo artist, Susan has taken her critically-acclaimed, concert to over 400 cities coast to coast and on the high seas with the Disney Cruise Line.  She has headlined with over 50 world-renowned symphonies, including the National Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony, the Philly Pops, and others, taking the concert stage at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center just to name a few.

Susan is currently executive producer and a star of Disney Princess – The Concert, a co-production of Disney Concerts and Broadway Princess Party, LLC – Susan’s company with partners Benjamin Rauhala, Laura Osnes, Courtney Reed and Adam J. Levy, where she serves as managing partner. The production made its world premiere in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2021 and is currently on an 85+ city US tour, with new productions in planning for the UK, Europe, Asia and beyond. 

Susan has over 40 recording credits from Broadway cast albums to film soundtracks, including her seven solo CDs: All That and More, So Far, Winter Tracks, CoffeeHouse, Susan Egan LIVE, The Secret of Happiness, and Softly.

Egan has also been “taking stage” in the educational arena, presenting master classes at universities and conservatories across the US, Europe and South America: USC, Pepperdine, University of Miami, Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts, Elon University, Escola de Teatre Musical  (Barcelona), Compac Gran Via (Madrid), Teatro Astral (Buenos Aires), Circle In the Square Acting Program, Texas Christian University, CSU Fullerton, Whittier College and countless others. She has been on faculty at UCLA (her alma mater) for their Summer Conservatory program, the Young Americans College of Performing Arts, and Cal Poly Pomona.  In 2002-3 she dedicated a year away from performing to assume the role of Interim Artistic Director of the Orange County School of the Arts, named one of the top high schools in the country by both Newsweek and US News & World Report.  Susan has also presented her hybrid education/performance program called On Stage with Susan, which combines her master class with a concert performance alongside the students!

Egan is a Southern California native and attended the Orange County School of the Arts and UCLA, where she received a Carol Burnett Award in Musical Theatre.  In 2002-2003, she devoted a year away from her career to assume the position of interim Artistic Director of the Orange County School of the Arts. She is an accomplished master teacher in music performance, obsessive gardener, and happy wife and mom two amazing daughters… who “aren’t that into” musicals.   @IAmSusanEgan,
