End of Year Giving
2020 END OF YEAR GIVING INSTRUCTIONS
Thank you for considering a gift to the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops, or Tanglewood as part of your contributions. Depending on the type of gift and the method of its delivery, the due date to claim a charitable deduction in calendar year 2020 will differ.
CREDIT CARD GIFTS ONLINE
To make a credit card gift online, visit www.bso.org/contribute. All credit card gifts must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 31, 2020 to count toward a 2020 tax deduction. Online credit card gifts are processed at the time that the gift is submitted.
CREDIT CARD GIFTS BY PHONE
To make a credit card gift by phone, please call the Friends Office at 617-638-9276. The Friends Office will be open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm during the month of December, with the exception of Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, when the Friends Office will be closed. In addition, the Friends Office will be closed on Friday, January 1.
Credit card gifts made over the phone must be processed by 4pm on Thursday, December 31 to count toward a 2020 tax deduction. Otherwise, you can make your credit card gift online through 11:59pm on December 31.

All gifts of cash by electronic transfer must be received by the BSO by Thursday, December 31, 2020 to count toward a 2020 tax deduction.
Are you looking for a tax-effective way to make a gift to the BSO? A charitable gift rollover from your Individual retirement account (IRA) may be your best option.
The IRA Charitable Rollover Act permits people age 70½ or older to make tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 directly from their IRAs to nonprofit organizations like the BSO. If the BSO receives your gift by December 31, 2020, you can count the gift as part of your minimum distribution for 2020.
