The BSO welcomes young violin sensation Himari in her Symphony Hall debut, as she brings her once-in-a-generation talent and imaginative interpretations to Sergei Prokofiev’s lyrical Violin Concerto No. 2. Paired with Prokofiev’s popular Fifth Symphony, these two works share longtime associations with the orchestra: Former Music Director Serge Koussevitzky and the BSO gave the first American performances of the concerto in 1937 and the symphony in 1945.
Following these concerts, Music Director Andris Nelsons conducts the BSO in this Prokofiev program at Carnegie Hall on April 13, where Himari will also make another historic venue debut.
