Program Fees and Residency Requirements
Age Requirements
All applicants to the Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) must have completed their secondary school (high school) education. It is expected that applicants to the TMC will have advanced musical skills, and therefore most successful applicants will have completed or nearly completed their undergraduate education. Vocal Arts program applicants must be between 20 and 35 years old as of the start of the program. Composition, Conducting, and Library Fellowship program applicants must be 18 years of age as of the start of the program. No other programs have specific age limits.
Residency Dates
Vocal, Composition, Piano, & Conducting Programs: June 23, 2023 - August 14, 2023
String, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, & Harp Programs: TBA
Tuition
There is no tuition charged to attend the TMC.
Meals
Fellows receive breakfast and dinner daily at Miss Hall’s School and a stipend, which allows them to purchase lunch on the Tanglewood campus.
Other Fees
All applicants must pay a non-refundable $75 application fee. Those invited to the TMC must pay a $250 registration fee upon their acceptance of a Fellowship invitation. Those re-invited for the following summer pay a $200 registration fee. After completion of the program, TMC reserves the right to charge additional fees in the event of damage or loss to any TMC property.
Incidental Expenses
Participants are responsible for the costs of transportation to and from Tanglewood at the beginning and end of the TMC season, and any other incidental expenses.
Financial Aid
No financial aid packages or work-study positions are available from the Tanglewood Music Center.
International Students
All international students must attend the TMC on a valid, non-tourist visa. For those without a current, valid visa, the TMC issues I-20 forms that enable students to apply for an M-1 student visa; the cost of obtaining the visa is borne by the Fellow.
